It's a short swim from the Bronx to Inwood Hill Park, and about two weeks ago, this white-tailed deer made it! A patron reported seeing a wet deer by the Dyckeman ball fields, and sure enough the deer was found (almost not found because it blended in so well) resting by a pile of dirt, rocks and some shrubs.
Why this individual broke away from the herd and where is it today is a mystery. Maybe spooked by a dog or human, or chased away by a competing male... What isn't a mystery is that deer populations are growing and they are reported more frequently throughout the 5 boroughs.
